The aesthetic dental fillings, thanks to the modern treatment methods and innovative dental materials, give us the ability to rehabilitate and model to perfection each tooth that is damaged by caries or other non-caries defects. The pleasure to make invisible restorations through methods of layering, dyes and different modelling techniques allows us to transform dental treatment into art.
Veneers are thin translucent ceramic flakes that are placed only on the buccal surface of vital teeth. They represent micro-invasive approach in dental aesthetics, in which the tooth is not cut deep but only its frontal visible part is remodeled. This modelling is about 0,3 to 0,7 mm deep, i.e. the thickness is the same as of an eye lens. The unique characteristic of dental veneers is that they can correct all imperfections of the tooth crown: color, shape, size and at the same time, they are extremely durable. On top of the indisputable aesthetic qualities, the veneers are irreplaceable treatment tool for some widely spread illnesses and conditions: dental abrasion, enamel cracks and fractures, tooth sensitivity, etc. By using veneers we can protect teeth from damage and development of carious lesions or different periodontal issues (gum diseases) that accompany uneven dental arches. Due to its micro-invasive nature, veneers are not an option for treatment of more severe defects.
CROWNS AND ZIRCONIUM CONSTRUCTIONS
All devitalised, fractured teeth are protected in time with the help of crowns. To extirpate the tooth pulp (nerve) of a tooth, it is either heavily fractured or more commonly, the caries lesion has damaged most of its crown. As a result of the above, the tooth walls are becoming thin with time and they loose their elasticity, become more brittle and fragile and we continue to place load of about 80 (up to 300) kg per sq. cm during each feeding. This process continues to a point, when tooth tissue fatigue and breaking takes place. Unfortunately, in some cases the crack goes over the entire root of the tooth and then the only option is extraction. This is the reason why it is very important to protect such teeth by artificial crowns. The modern crown reconstructions are manufactured by special reinforced ceramics or by using zirconium frame, covered by ceramics. Both types of crowns have superior aesthetic and biological qualities due to the fact that they do not contain metal.
With metal-ceramic crown there is a metal frame, covered by ceramics. Natural teeth have characteristic optical properties. Dentin is opalescent, i.e. opaque, dense and enamel is transparent. Due to the combination of these tissues, teeth have certain translucence if placed against light. Zirconium recreates exactly the properties, described above and gives to the crowns superior vital and aesthetic appearance. With metal-ceramic crowns these effects are unachievable because the metal in them is dense and acts as a barrier to the light.
Zirconium crowns and constructions are characterized by extreme strength and durability because no corrosive processes take place in them. The scientific data shows high success rate and long life of these crowns – up to 10-15 years. It does not mean that after that period the crowns need to be replaced but only that the percentage of success is reduced. They do not change in time and with proper maintenance (regular washing of teeth, dental floss usage and preventive check-ups twice per year), practically their life is indefinite. And namely their strength and durability serve as justification for the higher price. A lot of people are concerned with the final results and bother if they are going to like their new smile. In fact, with the help of the modern CAD\CAM technologies, the entire process is computerized and it is controlled during the whole process by the dental team (dentist, dental technician). This innovation allows us with two to three visits to complete the treatment process. During the first visit, we always design your future smile with the purpose of establishing the ideal aesthetic proportions, reflected through the individual perception of each person. Based on that design you can have an idea about the final result in advance and to inform us how you would like the constructions to look like and what the design of your future smile should be. For sake of absolute precision, we make temporary plastic teeth until the permanent ones are ready. The plastic teeth also give us information about the details of your future smile. It is important to say that even permanent constructions can be changed in color, shape and length; so to the end of treatment, the patient can participate in the process and his dental care.
